What is a good brand of knife?
I just bought a Frost knife and realized that all my knives are wal-mart POS's. I want a good long lasting knife for under 200 dollars. I'll be using it for camping, esp. primitive camping and teaching wilderness survival.
I heard about ka-bar and this knife looked the most appealing, any comments on that choice?

I have quite a few knives. For camping, something like that is going to be your best best. You can cook with it, cut anything, clean a fish, get some branches for a fire, eat with it, pretty much anything. That size may be a little too big though, that's more like a machette. Look into the marine corps size knives, with the 7.5 inch blade-that's what I have, and even that size gets to be a little cumber sum at times, you don't need much bigger honestly. For everyday use, I carry a gerber F.A.S.T. action presto...it's the closest thing to a dwitch blade you can carry legally (i got switchblades too, but not worth carrying incase you get caught). I love my gerber though, it's super quick to open and is like a 3.5 inch blade, which is the perfect carry size IMO. You can cut just about anything with it while is not being to uncomfortable to keep in the pocket.

Best way into private security job?
Im looking to get into a job involving security and am considering private security my goal. Im not sure of the best way in. Should I join the Marines and work my way from there? Maybe get a degree in a related field? Or should I just stay in the military and work my butt off to work my way up the ladder? Or should I join the Air Force and do a speciality job like Pararescue or Tactical Air Control Party where survival, fighting, weapons, and medical training are given?

The biggest question is what type of security do you want to do? Personal Security, Site Security? Your answer to that will determine what type of military training would most likely benefit you. And no, para rescue or tacp won't help. If you want to do site security, go AF, as security forces. It's basically the AF's version of cops... For personal security, go Army, Military Police. Just be aware that either job could get you deployed, and possibly injured to the point where you can't do anything afterwards. Your best bet is start small with a civilian company, and work your way up from there.

Air Force Jobs - More Information?
I would like to know if anyone knows from experience or of any type of information for some of these jobs.
Aircraft Loadmaster (1A231)
Combat Control (1C231)
Tactical Air Command and Control (1C431)
Pararescue (1T231)
Survival, evasion, resist., escape trainer (1T031)
Airborne Linguist (1A831)
In-Flight Refueling (1A031)
Any information of any of these jobs would be very helpful.

Loadmaster - you'll be responsible for the loading and unloading of cargo & equipment from the aircraft. You'll also be keeping an eye on the passengers/troops. Depending on airframe you'll also end up doing airdrops, kicking stuff out the plane while inflight. Your possible airplanesto fly on are C-5, C130, C17. Flown with plenty of loads on the 5 and 130.
Inflight Refueling (Boom Operator) You're the guy that passes fuel to the receiver aircraft. You fly in the back of the plane looking out the back. You control the boom and the quantity of fuel being transferred. Current tankers are KC-135, KC-10.
Airborne linguist you fly around listening and translating transmissions and data for commanders and intel. Gonna have to know & learn a foreign language.
SERE- You teach aircrew how to survive & use survival equipment in the event of crash, or shoot-down in different environments and locations. But first you go through the same training that you will eventually will teach and your fellow SERE instructors like to use you as examples during combat survival. You'll also teach water survival. most bases though only have one or two SERE instructors.
Pararescue (PJers) - you go in and rescue downed pilots and aircrew members. See the movie Black Hawk Down, I think the guys in the black helmets were PJers. You're a paramedic with a gun.

What can you do legally when someone breaks into your house?
There has been alot of home invasions in my area and was just wondering what you can do legally if you are home and someone breaks into your home? I have heard alot of stories before about people hurting the person robbing there home and getting sued by the robber or the robber getting hurt on there property and suing the victim which is why I am asking this question. otherwise If someone did break in I would grab some of my survival and tactical knifes and attack him, is that ok under these circumstances? Thank you
State of residence is connecticut
It depends on what state you live in. In some states you are presumed to be at risk for severe bodily harm if someone unlawfully enters your home (Florida and Texas, I think). Hence, you are allowed to use deadly force to subdue or kill that person. In other states you are not allowed to use deadly force unless the person has a weapon, or points that weapon at you, etc. There are varying degrees of protection given depending on where you live.
