It's an incredible sword for the money. When you're ready to stop buying those wall hangers and cheap Stainless Steel swords, paul chen katana's are amazing quality for the price and very beautiful swords. They are strong, and can really grab people's attention. If I were you I would get the practical katana first and see if you like it, there sre some great prices for it online. The practical plus is nice, but if you're going to be using it for practice, or just looking for a good katana, the blades are practically the same, the fittings and handles are the only thing that is different causing the price to be higher.
With all paul chen swords you can be sure you're getting something of good quality, hope that helped.
