Is my scale "un accurate"?
I caught a 23 inch carp and it said it was 5.1 lbs! I could have swore it was around 8 lbs.! Is my scale just un accurate or is this the actual weight of the fish? I could hardly keep a lip grip on this fish it was so heavy. It took both of my hands just to lip grip it like a bass!

Stevo, well i would have guessed about 8 lbs. but i was so hyped up from catching it! It may have been 5 lbs. But it looked larger to me.
It's amazing how hanging a fish on a scale tends to "shrink" it. Fish do look "bigger" when you catch them. But five pounds doesn't sound unreasonable for a 23 inch fish.
Anyway, I think the reason you needed two hands to lip grip the fish was because carp's mouths aren't as easy to grab as bass's mouths.
