Ka-bar (Kraton G or Leather Handle)?
I am considering getting a ka-bar and i heard the kraton g is really good and grippy but the leather grip one is the more famous and i hear it is used by the USMC. I kind of like the authenticy of the leather gripped one with the USMC stamp but is the kraton g the same/better? Which one should I get?
ps. If the USMC still uses ka-bars do they uses the classic leather or the modern kraton g grip?
go with the new kraton. Once the leather takes a beating it can and will start to come undone and then it will be a pain to get a good grip when it gets wet. What you should really be asking yourself is what kind of blade should you get. Serrated blades cut through wood and flesh a lot easier but its hard to keep the serrated portion sharp. I would go with the straight edged because it will be easier to keep it sharp all the time and it will handel all the cutting you need it to do. It might take a minute longer but its your better bet.
